With most of the votes in already, Ehud Barak has taken an almost unassailable lead over Ami Ayalon in the Labor Party primary. The vote machine put together by Barak and allies seems to have delivered, especially with the Kibbutz, Arab, and Moshav sectors.
As Prospects for Peace predicted yesterday, the momentum was swinging in Barak's direction. The other big winner, in the short term, should be Prime Minister Olmert, as Barak is very unlikely to bring down the coalition.
I'm not going to go into more details on the implications now, as it seems that the developments on the Palestinian side are more urgent, and I'll be posting on those shortly.
